Third Party Software
What a mess! We should standardize all these now, before it's too late! For example:
"Pro Software" vs "Prosumer Software" ??
Third-Party Hardware vs Third Party Hardware
I'm not really behind the whole "third party" distinction in the first place. We should have:
- Software
- Hardware
Software could be broken down in the various apple-provided subcategories as I described in a previous post. The whole "prosumer/consumer" category really only applies easily to Apple stuff. Sure, photoshop may be a "prosumer" app, but would Graphics Converter? It's used by pro's. I suspect most people who are looking for a solution wouldn't be going down a "pro" vs "consumer" road, but rather after a specific kind of application (an Internet utility, for example). This doesn't exclude a "Software->Apple Prosumer" category.
Hardware should similarly have a standard breakdown: Displays, CPUs, Mouses, etc... No need to necessarily differentiate between Apple/non-Apple stuff here. There should be no "Apple Displays" subcategory, but the Cinema Display could be in both Hardware->Displays, and Hardware->Apple Hardware (but not only Hardware->Apple Displays)

This sounds a lot like one of the new leaked features for the zune, could be a derived rumor (of a rumor).

The second example is really significantly front-focused, and is shot at f/2.8, so I don't think your focus and recompose technique is to blame (I'd expect a lot less change in focus using the slight focus and recompose you've used here).
Did you lock focus on the eyes and then recompose? Is it possible that you re-focused after you recomposed?

It would be a bit hard to do that as Apple releases the beta's to developers and then they chronicle the details here on MR and other sites. The only way for them to hide anything would be to release a version to the public that was never beta tested. Which of course would likely lead to a lot of bugs and a bad user experience.

Not sure where to post "my thoughts" (as if anyone cares) but I haven't been in the right spot at the right time to get an iphone 4. I work during the week so that allows for weekends and nights. I'm actually quite surprised that the walk-in stock has been so scarce. Anyway, this is my first iphone, I think Apple is the smartest company around, they are the leaders, not the followers. IMHO. After calling every store in town that can legally sell the iphone for days and getting on numerous waiting lists, and being told constantly that "I have no idea when there will be more iphone 4's, maybe two weeks" I finally ordered one from my local AT&T store tonight. I'm never home to sign for deliveries and if they won't let me ship it to my office, then I can't do UPS, FedEx, ETC. AT&T let me "pre-order" a phone and have it delivered to the AT&T store, which Apple would not. I'm being told 7 - 14 days for the delivery, so we'll see. Apple is saying 3 weeks.

I purchased Logic Studio (Pro Logic 9 version) in mid December last year. I'm on a steep learning curve having moved over from Cubase SX3. I was facing the prospect of an upgrade fee to the latest Cubase and buying some other music utilities or jumping ship and paying full price on Logic Studio. Well, I'm happy to say that I'm able to do everything I was doing before using Cubase with Logic Studio plus much more. It's not a 100% clear to me how it compares with the latest Cubase 5, which now integrates many more features than in SX3, but it seems that a lot of Steinberg's sampling stuff (Halion) still has to be bought separately. I'm also really getting to love the Logic Studio interface. I've imported a few of my really complex projects now that included multiple live recorded band audio tracks, overdubbed audio tracks and some step time, real time and score entered MIDI tracks and working on them is much easier. The audio editing features are superior, plus the MIDI stuff sounds much better.
It was mentioned above about purchasing a MIDI interface. I already had one because I was using a JV-1010 synthesiser with Cubase, but now, with Logic Studio, the included synthesisers have sounds that are superior in quality and editing features that leave it for dead, plus you get a fully featured sampler which is just awesome. (I normally don't talk like that but I'm not sure how else to put it, it's freaking awesome.) I've already started building up instruments based on my own recorded samples as I'm interested in composing using sounds sampled from sources other than instruments. I guess you could call it musique concrte, but I have my own ideas about what it is. Anyway the upshot is that my JV-1010 is taking a back seat and only getting dusted off when I need to check a project that needs exporting from Cubase to Logic Studio.

All of my browsers regularly freeze on MySpace. I regularly get a "playlist not valid" or some error like that because apparently the WMP 10 has a different format and since WMP9 for Mac was only available months after WMP10 for Windows, it doesn't know anything about the other. :rolleyes: I suppose we should be thankful that we have WMP9 at all.
Anyway, from my experience you can't get things to work unless you use Windows. Apparently, Tom, the main person in charge uses a PowerBook to work on the site but everything is running on Windows NT 4. At least, I see the error messages for NT 4 once a month.

Do you think the online reservation scheme is to better gage how much inventory they will possibly need at any given Apple store on opening day? I would be surprised if they had 2 separate lines. One reserved and one for those who did not reserve. That would be too smooth.
Anyone else have an opinion on that?

Thank you.. I also figured out the same thing some time back but forgot to post it here...
I would like to ask another thing.. whatever value I give in the options: does not seem to have any effect on my animations.. say If i had given[UIView animateWithDuration:0.8 delay:0.0 options: UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft animations:^ { popContents.view.frame = CGRectMake(160, 70, 350, 350);
[self.view.superview bringSubviewToFront:self.view];
[self.view.superview addSubview:popContents.view]; }
completion: ^(BOOL finished) {
NSLog(@"DONE");
}
]; I thought by adding options:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft , it should have added an extra effect to my animation in addition to the zooming effect..
would you be able to help me out?
Something like this should work. You may need to tweak the UIViewAnimationOptions.
[UIView animateWithDuration:0.8 delay:0.0 options:UIViewAnimationOptionCurveEaseInOut | UIViewAnimationOptionAllowUserInteraction animations:^(void) {
popContents.view.frame = CGRectMake(320, ypos-70, 350, 350);
} completion:^(BOOL finished) {
[self.view.superview addSubview:popContents.view];
}];
Don't forget you can nest animations inside of each other.

Kyle,
I destroyed the case on my previous PB trying to swap the drive. It was awful, and you are so correct the PBFixit, does such a poor job in explaining this part. Thans for the tip!
