It always depends on how much gaming you want to do, cuz let's face it, a 2006 Powerbook can run Excel or Word just fine for class.
If it must be portable, then you should get a 13" MBP and use the saved money to upgrade it to a SATA 3 SSD. It's nice to get a top 15", but I don't think you will do enough to get your money's worth out of the CPU/GPU (unless you game alot or do heavy video editing).

The SL disc you have may not have the version of OS X needed for your MBA. MBA shipped after SL was released this e.g. 10.6.0 may not work. Call Apple and ask them to send you a replacement installation media, it shouldn't cost more than 20$ or so.

Last night I was in Walmart picking up Super Paper Mario and the guy working there says, "So you got one of those Wii things, huh?." I replied, "Yeah, do you have one yet." Turbo Boost effectively lets a processor speed up when it's not using all of its cores by 'shutting off' the cores that aren't in use. Off the top of my head the i5 3.1Ghz can Turbo Boost to 3.4Ghz while the i7 3.4Ghz can run to 3.8Ghz. The real world difference is relatively small but can be worth a couple of frames a second in a game or a few seconds off a benchmark.

Now, iMac is at 15 hours. I do a weekly restart on it. My Windows 2008 server is running strong, 218 days. Would be longer, but I think it turned off because my battery UPS protector wasn't able to last very long. Only about 5 mins or so and the power was out longer. :(

When you have Flash installed and ClickToFlash, Flash object will not be executed unless clicked on, thus Flash takes no CPU cycles unless needed.

I think you can replace the TV Tuner board just by itself. I keep reading that "they where a popular add-on for Performa owners". This seems to suggest that the TV Tuner card in a Macintosh TV is the same used in Perfromas and other early Apple computers with TV Tuners.
