Thanks to everyone for such rapid and helpful replies. Dbevis asked what I was trying to achieve. I should have mentioned this; I'd come across the concept of hyperfocal distance and its calculation. I realised that I had no idea what the focal length of the zoom lens is at any setting (other than at the wide-angle (and telephoto) end of the zoom scale). Having said all that, by putting in some trial numbers into the hyperfocal distance equation - representing the focal lengths at the bottom end of the zoom range and at various logical aperture settings - it turns out that the furthest hyperfocal distance I'm likely to encounter is about 10 feet. Now, I must see if theory is borne out by practice. I have had the camera 4 years now and I never seem to stop learning something more about it.

Yeah I think it makes sense to fill I9 form because that way you make it clear that your intent moving forward is to be on AOS rather than H1. In case you dont do it then you are on dual status with H1 being primary status so in that case it is open to wide interpretation of CIS officers to classify it as out of status or in status.

My current project is finishing end of this month (Nov) and am not sure if my company will engage me in another project, I work with a offshore model company. If I dont get another project they provide two options work from India or find another company.
I filed for 485 on Jul 19. Got my EAD, 485 receipts, AP is pending. I-140 filed on Feb 28th 2007 at Nebraska and pending.
What are the risks if I move at this time. Company may not revoke I-140, but may not respond to RFE. If I take two months leave .. to buy time and come back (My current H1 stamp in passport expired), can I expect the I-140 to be approved by that time, Or can I apply for a new I140 through the new company and continue the GC processing. Iam in a dillemma as to what will happen as I have only 2 months and odd days left to invoke AC21 and USCIS is currently processing I-140 Nov15 cases as of the last update and mine is Feb'07. ok- so , I am guessing the consensus is go with the earlier PD (+ EB3).

I just read the FAQ#3 and A33 says that I-485 �7/30/07 Y� should be used but my attorney used "07/24/06 Y" to file my I-485. Very worried now... any comments... what are chances that my apllication would be rejected?

I am in a similar situation but I had worked for the GC processing employer for 6 years but switched jobs before I applied for 485. Can I invoke AC21?

I think she need to fill I-9 form to switch to EAD and thus switching out of H1.
Right now she is on H1 as well as AOS.
How will a person fill I-9 form when she is not working. she lost her H1-B status when she stopped working. Now she will be on AOS. I do not think anything needs to be done

My Indian passport was issued here in the States.
My last place of work in India was Delhi (that was in 2000,where I got my initial visa done).
But I am a resident of Bhubaneswar.
I opted for Mumbai as it was going to be my port of entry.
Did not get any such warning or mail.
So not much trouble as far as the stamping was concerned.
Don't understand why they would try and compel you to move to your own district. This must be a recent thing.
Important question is, if they refuse to stamp at your first choice, how do you get the 2nd appointment at your own district? And will it be worth the trouble.
Sorry, don't know abt that.

Hi All
Mine is EB2 Category, On May 18th 2009 USCIS sent an RFE and my case status on USCIS website changed to this
"On May 18, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."
My Lawyer submitted the response for RFE with in 30 days (Sometimes in June before June 18th). My online status never changed and my lawyer assured that she has signature proof of receipt from FedEx, After 60 days, after pressure from me her paralegal sent an email to me Saying that she spoke with some one named XYZ from Texas Service center and he said that they have received the response, I waited until December and the status still not changed so I decided to call USCIS, they opened case for me on Dec 10th since it was outside processing time, and on Jan 17th 2010, I received a letter from USCIS with the reulst of investigation and it said+
"Status of this service request is:
The TSC has not received your response as of to date.
XM271"
I panicked and wrote an email to my lawyer and he said that
They just looked on the online status for your letter and Please be careful not to do separate inquiries apart from the lawyer as they now might not allow the lawyer to get case update for you. It is important to have on channel for updates since files get moved around and can get lost. If you wanted us to do the inquiries, please let us know and we can see if they will still let us. we are sure everything is fine as we have confirmation they got the response. We charge hourly at $250 per hour for time spent on the case beyond an initial inquiry."
I am going to contact my employer and express my concerns and see what they can do.
My questions are
Does the online status never get updated sometimes?
Does contacting USCIS directly creates problems for contacting USCIS on my behalf?
Any suggestion for me how to proceed with this?

When did you file I-140 at TX? RFE could be for documents about ability to pay.

What do you mean by legal basis. He agreed to pay $2 to company A (in email) until the project ends. If this is correct, he should continue paying $2 to company A. Since the OP stopped paying $2 , company A wants to make sure that the project ended.
Ofcourse, Since thee is no contract or agreement between company A and OP, no need to pay $2. But that is not fair on his part. Company A is not asking for 25-40% from billing, He just asked for $2 per hour.
