I have a Digidesign Pro Tools Card, the Digi 001 and am thinking about upgrading to the G5, even though Digidesign hasn't "approved" the new machines yet (they still haven't approved the FW800 MDDs yet...)
But I read something about PCI-X slots and that they wont work with some older PCI cards, which types of cards won't work in a PCI-X slot? More specifically, would the Digi 001 work?

Processor: bus speed I originally had this, but couldn't find it for every model. I'll try and add it.
Memory: how many open slots I was considering doing another 'Upgrade Guide', but perhaps one great big one would be best...
HD: speed of HD Something I got rid of purely because I couldn't find the speed of the Mac mini's (is it that bad? Again, I'll try...
Optical: speed of Superdrive *adds to list*
Display: external monitor spanning vs. mirroring Is this really needed, as you can usually hack it anyway.
Price: US$ as well *cough*
Ports: PowerBooks have a PC card slot; also maybe a separate category for audio to do list.
Notes: maybe make a separate box for "Last Updated" good idea.
...enter the specs you want (i.e. combo drive, FW800, USB2, 128 MB Vram), and then it would give you the various machines that can be configured that way, with prices... I was planning on doing something similar eventually. Maybe the ability to turn columns or rows on and off.
How about having a seperate BTO column, instead of cramming it in with the standard config? What are your thoughts on that?

The current jb programs aren't as easy as jailbreakme.com. Considering the OP is too lazy to research what's available, the jb programs might require too much effort.
Its not that I'm too lazy to research whats available. I actually have done research on the subject, which raised a number of questions. I'm not an expert at hacking iPad. I also have a job, two kids and not a lot of time to troubleshoot a problem if I mess up my iPad configuration. Apparently you have plenty of time on your hands to make utterly useless comments.

I heard the Porche drives have terrible thermal dissipation. I'd go for the d2, if only for the rack-mounting possibilities.

I will try to avoid Macrumors and Engadget but it will be hard. I just can't wait!
Same! But the chances of me going to the darkside and checking before the video comes online is quite likely :p :D

Okay Im giving my parents my mac mini. Im also waiting for the new iMac to come out. Its going to be a few months until I get one. In the mean time I have a MBA so I'll be fine. My question is:
#1) whats the best way for to copy all my files, music, movies, photos, and apps to a external hard drive?
#2) once all my files are transferred to the external HD can I still use my itunes with my MBA by hooking it up to the external drive through USB?

Seagate Barracuda 1TB in our 2.7GHz 27" i5.
Anyone successfully swapped out their stock hard drive for an upgraded size, or does anyone have info on the 2TB sized models?
Also can people post the firmware version if possible. Thanks!

Chaos struck London Underground's Northern Line at the start of this morning's rush when a driverless train broke away from the engine towing it and headed off into the tunnels under Camden towards the centre of the city. At 6:44am the engineering train broke its coupling near Archway station and rolled back down the hill towards oncoming passenger trains. Thanks to the Northern Line having multiple routes through the city control room staff quickly diverted passenger trains safely onto the line's Bank branch whilst the runaway was left to come to a rest at Warren Street station on the Charing Cross part of the network.

Anyone using a MIDI interface? im looking at the M-Audio ones on the apple store
I've been using Logic Pro 8 since it was released with an M-Audio USB Fast Track. I also bought an M-Audio Keystation 88. The keyboard feels good and I haven't had any problems with it. The Fast Track sounds decent enough. Latency isn't too bad when Logic Pro is set to low-latency mode.

If you use it, that won't happen unless you've already clicked on the video to view it.
I'd provide a list of forum links, but, y'know.....
I have ClickToFlash enabled and haven't clicked on any video. Yet, the scrolling stops when it hits the edge of the video.

Safari 5.1 on Lion for me is, without exaggeration, 4 times faster loading pages than 5.0.3 on SL. It's insanely fast loading anything from HTML5 to Flash content.
It's not just snappier, it's in a different realm.

I was in a similar, ish, situation. Other half has Pokemon Black, but our DS Lites don't like our WiFi (how dare we use WPA...), so we decided to upgrade one unit to something more modern.
Initially we bought a 3DS, but sent it back within a few days. The handling of DS games on the upper screen isn't that good to be honest (scaling issues), and we felt the 3D was a waste of time and money. Instead we picked up a new DSi for 95 (love airports), and it's great - less than half the cost, far superior battery life, and also supports WPA and the DSi store.
