In Greek mythology medusa wasa gorgon, a female monster ,daughter of Phorcys and Ceto.
She was beheaded by the hero Perseus who used her head as a weapon.
The head of medusa is featured on some regional symbol, for example is the flag of Sicily.
This remarke is very loosely based upon the greek myth of Perseus.
