the catacombs of paris

Te catacombs of Paris are a famous underground ossuary .
located south of the city,the ossuary fills a renovated section of caverns and tunnels that are the remains of Paris stone mines.
Opened in the late 18th century the underground cemetery became a tourist attraction .
Following an incident of vandalism ,they were closed to the public in september 2009 and reopened on 19 December of the same year.
After descending a narrow spiral stone of 19 metres to the darkness and after passing through a long hallway of mortared stone.
A visitor would find himself in front of a stone portal,the ossuary entry,graced with the inscription "arrete,c'est ici l'empire de la mort"stop, this is the empire of death.
Beyond begin the halls and caverns of walls of carefully arranged bones,some of the arrangement are almost artistic,such as heart shaped outline in one wall with skulls embedde in surrounding tibias.
The catacomb walls are covered in graffiti dating from the eighteen century.
I would like remember also the film "catacombs" 2007 is set in the catacombs of Paris.
Ok maybe is not the right place where i would hold a party.. well ... perhaps an halloween party i would ... , but despite all sadness emanated from all the bones and skulls the trip to the catacombs was a nice experience .
